Feline Advisory Bureau

T

he Feline Advisory Bureau has had a major influence on the health and care of cats since its foundation in 1958. Each year, FAB responds to thousands of queries from vets, cat owners and breeders and organises conferences and seminars for these groups. By funding veterinary surgeons to specialise in the care of cats, and by gathering information on feline diseases, the FAB continues to create the scientific backbone for many of the advances in the treatment of cats.

The FAB has also played a major role in improving both the construction and management standards of catteries across the UK. A highly-acclaimed Boarding Cattery Manual, produced in 2002, along with a Standard for Construction and Management, is now considered the “bible” for anyone wanting to open a boarding cattery. With years of experience in this field, the FAB is also able to answer a huge range of queries about the day to day running of catteries.

The FAB founded the European Society of Feline Medicine for veterinary surgeons in 1996 which now has over 650 members from 35 countries.

The FAB is funded by donations and legacies from the public.
